Our Journey
From Humble Beginnings to a Thriving Karate Academy: Our Story
Kenyu-ryu karate was founded by Ryusho Tomoyori (1907–1977) in Osaka, Japan, after he trained under masters of various Karate styles, including Kenwa Mabuni of Shito-ryu. The style was founded with Mabuni’s approval and is an extension of Tomoyori’s unique teaching methods, combining the influences of the Naha-te and other styles he learned.
